Compassionate boarding
Compassionate boarding at WAG is a sanctuary for animals and families in crisis, whether due to natural disasters, medical emergencies, or other challenges such as temporary homelessness, incarceration or mental health crisis.
This service provides temporary care for animals in numerous ways, such as the case of Oakley and her seven puppies. Oakley became pregnant before her family could afford to get her spayed, resulting in overwhelming challenges in caring for her and her large litter. When her family reached out for assistance, we took Oakey into our care through our compassionate boarding program. We ensured Oakley and her pups thrived until they were old enough to be weaned, ready to find forever homes through our adoption program. After Oakley was spayed, she was happily reunited with her family.
This program not only supports individual animals and families but also reduces unwanted litters, reducing animal suffering and promoting healthier and safer communities.
Additionally, we extend our support to outdoor animals recovering from surgeries, such as spay and neuter procedures in remote areas, by providing essential aftercare that families may not be equipped to give.
