My story:
Hi, I'm Togo!
I came into WAGs care in September, sadly I was found in a ditch suffering from serious injuries from assumingly being hit by a vehicle. Some amazing citizens took me under their wing, found me an interim safe place to go until WAG and PAWS could facilitate taking me in and getting the veterinary care I desperately required.Upon the assessment and X-rays of my injuries, it was determined I suffered with a broken hip, broken jaw, five broken teeth and a laceration to the groin area, and more. I needed intensive orthopedic and dental surgeries to help repair my injuries but luckily I was deemed to be a great candidate for a full recovery given I had no internal bleeding, no broken ribs and no broken legs. I promptly recieved the lifesaving surgery I needed under the expertise of the medical professionals at Bridgeway Veterinary Specialists and Eagleview Veterinary Hospital, specialist surgery on both my pelvis and jaw. I recovered well and was strong enough for a second proceedure later that month, a dental surgery to remove fractured teeth and a neuter at the same time.
We're beyond grateful to everyone who has made these surgeries and aftercare possible—from his community who came together to help, his incredible Vets and specialists who have worked tirelessly to give him the second chance he deserved. AND of course our donors far and wide who have been unbelievably generous in giving to our latest Critical Care Fund resident in need. Togo has been a model patient, showing his resilient spirit and sweet nature throughout. Currently hobbling around on three legs, Togo will soon be working on getting back to four, with some light physio exercises. Let’s be real—who in Whistler hasn’t had to rest up and do some range of motion exercises after an injury, with some rechecks here and there? We’re hopeful that his surgeon will sign him off for some adventures before the season wraps up…....fingers crossed!Whether you donated, drove him to a vet appointment, looked after him at the vet or shared his story on social media, we thank YOU!
Togo's surgery would not have been possible without the support and donations from members of our community, our followers and our loyal supporters. We would like to say a special thank you to the community members of Mount Currie, Barn Nork, Impact Dental Centre, Bridgeway Veterinary Specialists and Eagleview Veterinary Hospital for donating and supporting Togo’s recovery. If you are able to donate to Togo's care at this time, please visit www.whistlerwag.com/donate and click on Togo's Hip & Jaw Surgery: Emergency Critical Care Fund.
A very special thank you to his vet and previous foster, Dr. Armstrong @eagleviewvet who loved and cared for Togo while he recovered from surgery! Another special shoutout to his amazing current foster Elisha, who is continuing to support Togo while he heals and thank you for bringing him to the shelter this week, it was so lovely for some of our staff to see him and how well he’s doing!!We’re so proud of you Togo and can't wait to see you continue to improve day by day and know you will find a special home where you can be safe and given a life full of love and adventures forever.

My perfect home:
Someone who will keep me safe and prioritise my health post adoption and beyond, I have been recovering from major surgeries and require rechecks, physio and anything else that might come up
Understanding that I have had HUGE changes in my life recently and to give me the time I need to settle in and relax after my adoption
Be proactive with my training, using a WAG approved trainer if recommended to help me in my transition to my next adventure give me the best set up for success
Having a safe & secured yard would be a bonus whilst I recover and minimal stairs! If not - not problem but being okay with using a long line to allow more freedom when I am ready for it whilst keeping me safe
Will take me for my recheck appointments and continue my physio plan, along with any other vet recommendations for my future health and care. Will take me for annual vet checkups and be proactive with my health for the rest of my days
