My story:
Hi, I'm Piper!
I am a young active and affectionate girl who is looking for a home where I can live my best life! I first came to WAG in 2022 with my sister Pepper and was adopted into a loving home locally. My family loved me very much but I was having a hard time in the environment, so the difficult decision was made to search for a new place for me to truely thrive. Everyone just wants the best for me, and that may be an adult only household where I can be the only kid! I do have some dog friends, but I would like to be the star of the show in my new home. I am super smart and love to show off all the tricks I've learned in the past couple of years. I seem to have a tendancy to herd things, which is not surprising as I am a herding breed mix! With this in mind, it is super important that I am given opportunities to use my big brain as well as my daily physical exercise. An outlet where I can put my thinking cap on would be beneficial, I love to learn and bond with my humans. I'm thinking it might be fun to try out some dog sports? I hope my next BFF is interested in training with me, we will have lots of fun together and I will need you to help me with some of my stressors outside of the home.
My friends at WAG have some exciting plans for me to help ease my anxiety and relax me as I settle in. My favourite thing to do right now is run around the shelter yard and play chase and other games in the fresh snow. I could play for hours! As long as theres a spot for me on the sofa afterwards where I can have some quality cuddles and share some down time together.
I am looking for a quiet home with a loving, dog experienced human with patience and understanding to help me settle in and to work on my anxieties together. I am prescribed anti-anxiety medication to help me whilst I am going through this huge transitional period in my life, at the recommendation of my Vet team. This will need to be continued moving forward and evaluated as needed.
Could you be my furever fam? Keep an eye on my profile as the team at WAG and I get to know each other better again.
Looking to adopt? Please fill out an application to adopt as the first step in WAG's adoption process, or get in touch with the shelter to find out more!
My perfect home:
Is dog savvy and willing to take a couple of trips to get to know me before taking me home.
Is patient and understands that I will need time to settle in and relax after my adoption and go at my own pace. I have had lots of huge change in my life recently and am on anti-anxiety medication to help me with the transition, which will need to be continued at the recommendation of my Vet team for the foreseable future.
Be proactive with my training, using a local WAG approved trainer that will help me learn transition and give me the best set up for success. Including being pro-muzzle and keen to continue my muzzle training plan.
Having a safe & secured yard would be a bonus for morning zoomies and ball play sessions! If not, being okay with using a long line to allow plenty of freedom but keep me safe works too. I would prefer a quieter area if possible!
Will take me for regular vet checkups and be proactive with my health.
