My story:
Hi, I'm Beau!
I’ve been at WAG for a few months now, and I can’t wait for my perfect match family to come and bring me home! I live up to my name—I'm a beautiful boy inside and out. I’ve stolen the hearts of everyone here with my sweet, adventurous spirit. The staff and volunteers do their best to fill my days with love and excitement, but the shelter environment can be overwhelming, and I feel much calmer when I have a steady foster home with a predictable routine. Some of my favorite things include treats, toys, training, and hitting the trails! After a good adventure, there’s nothing I love more than settling down for some couch cuddles. I enjoy meeting new people and dog friends, though I prefer to do so on my own terms. I’m not a fan of strangers rushing up to pet me right away—I like to get to know them first. Once I trust you, though, get ready for all the love, cuddles, and excitement you can handle! I may even get a bit loud in my joy, but that’s just me showing my affection when I am feeling overwhelmed.
Right now, I’m on anti-anxiety medication, which my vet recommended to help me manage this big transition in my life and prepare me for success in my forever home. This will need to be continued until the Vet recommends otherwise. My life has had a few bumps along the way—I was originally adopted from PAWS in Pemberton, but after a year, I found myself back in search of a new home that’s a better fit for me. I’m a high-energy guy, and if my needs aren’t met, that energy can sometimes come out in the form of anxiety. PAWS and WAG have worked together to create a routine that really helps me thrive, and I’m ready to continue that with my new family.
I’m looking for an active, dog-experienced family who loves hiking as much as I do! Out on the trails, I’m a great listener and quick learner—I pick up new tricks fast and love the challenge. I need someone who can offer me exercise, structure, mental stimulation, and ongoing training. I know that with the right environment and support, I’ll make an amazing addition to a loving home.
I have so much love to give, and after a lot of change in my life, I’m ready to settle down with a family who will give me stability, understanding, and plenty of adventures. Could you be the one to give me the forever home I’ve been waiting for?
If you think we’re a match, please fill out an application to adopt, or get in touch with WAG to find out more. I can’t wait to meet my furrrrrever family and start our journey together!
My perfect home:
Is dog savvy and willing to take a couple of trips to get to know me before taking me home. I can sometimes be unsure of new people when I first meet them so we take things slow
A family with patience who love big, goofy, affectionate doggos
Understanding that I have had HUGE changes in my life recently, alongside trauma and illness. I will need you to give me the time I need to settle in and relax after my adoption
Be proactive with my training, using a local WAG approved trainer that will help me learn transition and give me the best set up for success. Including being pro-muzzle and keen to continue my muzzle training plan
Having a safe & secured yard would be a bonus for morning zoomies and ball play sessions! If not, being okay with using a long line to allow plenty of freedom but keep me safe as I settle in. I can become overwhelmed as I look to you to help me feel safe
Will take me for regular vet checkups and be proactive with my health
