My story:
Hi I'm Pumpkin! I've found myself at the shelter after an ongoing health issue just wasn't getting better even after a lot of veterinary medical treatment.
*I am in a foster home locally
I have been in the care of WAG since February 2023, finding myself at the shelter after an ingoing health issue just wasn't getting better even after a lot of veterinary medical treatment. For the past couple of years I have been having trouble believed to be caused by something called 'Eosinophilic Granuloma Complex'. This is an inflammatory condition with an inappropriate immune response that can have a variety of causes and symptoms. In my case I had a large ulcer on my upper lip and a very large legion on my side. I was initially being treated with steriods and monitored with daily cleanings and cream applied to my sores. I am happliy in a quiet loving foster home and with their dedicated support my upper lip is healed and the painful legion on my side has reduced finally after months of consistent care. With this great news, I have transitioned onto a different medication named Atopica which has less side effects and is succeeding on my continued healing. The steriods made me super hungry, which was difficult as I am already a larger guy! Despite daily treatments, I have always been a perfect patient and am super friendly despite the difficulties I've had with my health.
I am super friendly, loveable and my favourite things are getting lots of cuddles, being brushed and showing my appreciated via contented purrs. I love making biscuits and I love eating biscuits even more. I'm becoming more mobile, with the help of my foster pawrents, and enjoy going outside with my harness and leashes! I am an indoor cat but do enjoy a safe adventure here and there which is fun for all of us. Human company is the best, I love to perch beside (or on top) of you and get endless pets and am great with meeting new people - I even made a dog friend in one of my foster homes! I am very grateful to the team at Pemberton Vet who have looked after me for a while now. I'm told I've been acing my monthly check-ups and they seem to be proud of my progress, its been a long road but my daily routine is simple and my future adopter will have no problem getting used to it all and taking over my care.
For the month of October, my foster fam have been showcasing my personality via my own Instagram account, posting new photos and videos every single day to help me find my forever. Follow along to learn all about me and share my story! My handle is @pumpkinthepumpernickel
Or consider donating to my ongoing vet costs to support WAG and their Critical Care Program helping me and other animals in need.

My dream is to one day have a permanent place of my own to call home.
