Meet Milo! 

This mini but mighty kitty continues to amaze us with her strength and bravery. Milo arrived at WAG after becoming very unwell with something we later learned was 'pyothorax'. She was fighting for her life with difficulty breathing, serious infections and sadly had gone into early labour and lost her kittens. There was a huge amount of puss built up around her chest which needed to be drained each day as it continued to accumulate. Her amazing team at Coast Mountain Veterinary Services worked around the clock and gave her the best chance possible, and several days later she was able to leave the hospital and continue her healing. Milo was not yet out of the woods, requiring various medications several times a day and close monitoring.

At her recent recheck with the CMVS team, we got some hopeful news: her lungs have improved, there was no new fluid buildup, and her scans looked promising.  While she’s not quite strong enough for vaccinations or her spay surgery just yet, she’s down to just one medication (from five!) and continuing antibiotics while we monitor her closely. Her lungs still show some irritation and she’ll need another recheck in 10 days. The source of her infection remains a mystery, but that’s not uncommon with Pyothorax in cats unfortunately. For now, the WAG team is keeping a watchful eye on her breathing, appetite, comfort levels and celebrating each win.
