Mary Jane – Adopted March 2022!

mary jane4

Has been waiting at WAG since December 2021

Breed: Sphynx
Gender: Female
Age: 12 years old
Size: small

Energy Level: low, but maintenance HIGH
Litter trained? yes
Kids? Mary Jane would prefer a calm home, older children or a quieter less busy family
Cats? No thanks! I would prefer to be the only animal
Dogs? No thanks!  I would prefer to be the only animal
Medical Needs: Ongoing monitoring of her dietary needs, a general check up within the first 6 months of adoption will be needed.

About Me:

Hi, I’m Mary-Jane the Sphynx cat!

I was surrendered to WAG and have been living in a foster home since then.

I patiently waited for my much needed dental surgery for a few weeks. I finally had my surgery this past week and had most of my teeth removed. Thank you to Eagleview and Coast Mountain Vets for taking extra special care of me, and with the help of WAG, volunteer drivers, my foster parents and my pain meds, I’m no longer in pain and have started to feel way more relaxed. I’m a sweet 12 year old lady with lots of love and affection to give.

I’m very mellow and quiet throughout the day but will meow and make noise when I’m hungry and want to be fed. I have big ears, big eyes, lots of wrinkles and the gentlest demeanor.

My favourite things are mealtimes and long cosy naps.

I love to be snuggled up under a blanket on my heated sleeping pad or with my humans in their bed or on the couch. I enjoy head rubs and chin scratches and when I’m in a cuddly mood sometimes I will purr for hours and give head nudges and nose kisses.

Although I’m a mellow kitty, I require regular baths (weekly) and general maintenance, including having my nails cleaned and trimmed (biweekly), ears cleaned every 4 days and face cleaned morning and night. This maintenance is typical for my breed. I don’t mind being in the warm water for my bath but don’t particularly like being cleaned and scrubbed but I enjoy being wrapped up in a towel and held afterwards. I am well behaved and try my best to cooperate but maintenance is never my favourite!

I require frequent smaller mushed up meals as I have no teeth, and I have specific dietary requirements that the vet picks for me. I have had issues with certain foods in the past so it is important that I have the right food to eat.

I would love to have a warm cosy fire to cuddle up in front of and would thrive in a warm house as I get cold easily because I have no fur! If possible, I’d like to always have an array of various blankets to choose where I can snuggle up around the house.

My ideal day consists of waking up my humans for a cuddle in the morning, snoozing and purring until they get up to feed me. After breakfast, I like to curl up on my heating pad and have my humans tuck me in. After I wake up from my nap, I like to check where my humans are and scratch on my post before going back to my heating pad and blanket.

I like to be told how pretty I am and get head scratches and forehead kisses.

Between my meal times and naps, I’m very chilled, I play very occasionally.
In the evening I love the fireplace and will climb on my small cat tree beside the fire.
After my dinner, my humans would tuck me in before going to bed themselves.

I’m happy to hang out all day and keep you company. I would make a great and very affectionate companion for your home! I hope I get to find my forever home that will love and care for me forever.

My Story:

Mary Jane had a mom that had her since she was a kitten. She provided her love and care for 12 wonderful years. Unfortunately Mary Jane's dental health was declining and surgery was needed. Mary Jane was surrendered into WAG's care, thanks to Coast Mountain Veterinary Clinic and Eagleview Veterinary Hospital for both providing service above and beyond for Mary Jane.

If you can't donate at this time, please consider donating to her dental bills.

Fezzik – Adopted July 2022!

website1

Fezzik

Breed: Domestic Short hair
Gender: Female
Age: 3 1/2 years old
Size: Small

Energy Level: Low
Litter trained? Yes
Kids? No thank you! Fezzik is looking for a calm family that is not very social to join
Cats?  Nope!
Dogs? Definitely no thank you!
Medical Needs: Moving forward yearly check ins.

About Me:

Hi I'm Fezzik!

I am a sweet and sassy type of gal that likes to be the boss of the house.

I need a home with no other animals, as well as a home that is okay with not getting any new animals once I am in it.

I'm also looking for a home that isn't a social hub. I can feel very uncertain when meeting new people, and I prefer to have not too many new friends.

I spend lots of my day napping on the high perch of my tower. I LOVE feeding time, truly my favorite time of the day
is breakfast then my next favorite time is dinner.

I like head and chin scratches and a nice lap to sit on, please don't touch my belly though.

I can be a gentle, but sometimes I'm a little cheeky and like to be a little rough. This is usually during play and was probably reinforced when I was younger by having humans play with their hands as toys. I will need time, patience and kindness while I learn that being rough during play is not okay.

The love, warmth, food, water, and cozy beds they have given me make me feel happy and I am becoming much braver.
There’s been a lot of changes in my life recently and I would very much like to be adopted by people who understand
that time and patience, combined with love and respect is very important for me.

Fezzik has been doing great in her foster home, here's a little update!

To start, Fezzik is:
Smart
Sweet
Well behaved
Inquisitive
Playful
Loves to be included in everything
Loves going outside just to watch world go by (and chipmunks and birds!)
Good when it's time to go home, although needs to be picked up
Has never scratched or hissed at me
Loves meal times
Prefers wet food to dry food. Likes pates vs shredded fish etc

Day in the life:

* Wakes up from under my duvet when I wake up - she loves to snuggle(although comes and goes during the night)
* breakfast time - yum yum
* keeps me company as I do errands
* open my balcony/terrace where she sits on banister
* if I have time in morning, I show her a collar/harness and she races towards me and stands still while I fumble around putting it on.
* she decides where to go! Usually it's just to a step where she sits and watches
* if someone comes or appears out of the blue she runs away fast - but lead stops her. She is very trusting now she knows me and is so grateful to be given the freedom of going outside and I honestly feel that should she get loose there would be no problem catching her.
* She is never that thrilled about going home time - but once inside she charges around happy as a puss in boots.
* She comes when I call her name
* she loves sitting on the window sill
She will make the most wonderful loving companion and give so much joy to whoever is the lucky one to adopt her.

My Purrrfect Match

- Provide me with as many beds/napping spots I may wish for in my forever home – preferably with a view and some sun!
- Understand that I may need a little bit of time to settle into my new surroundings
- Provide me with endless hours of play or cuddles, whichever I prefer!
- Give me space when I've had enough cuddles and play
- Is ready for the 10+ year commitment
- Enjoys the company of sassy girls
- Keep me safe, enriched and healthy
- Continue to monitor my health throughout my life

-Give me lots of time to feel comfortable with you and my surroundings.
-Someone who understands that I might not want to cuddle or be touched all the time.

- Give me a safe home forever and ever

My Story:

I had a loving family, a owner that loved me dearly, but knew I needed more. My mom wanted to make sure that I'd be given the best care, she made the tough decision to surrender me to WAG to ensure that I'd find a home that will spoil me and love me forever.

If you can't adopt at this time, please consider donating towards my care while at WAG.

Cheese & Crackers – Adopted March 2022!

Cheese and Crackers collage

Has been waiting at WAG since October 2021

Breed: Domestic Short hair's
Gender: Females, Cheese is the Tortoiseshell (right) and Crackers is the dilute (left)
Age: Approximately just over 1-year-old
Size: small

Energy Level: Lower energy through the day, very playful and active at night
Litter trained? Yes
Kids? Potentially older children
Cats? No
Dogs? No
Medical Needs: none

About Me:

Cheese and Cracker's came into WAG's care together, and that's where they are most comfortable, with each other.

The ladies we don't have much history, they are most likely sisters that had little to no contact with humans. They did not enjoy the company of WAG staff or volunteers, they mostly spent their days hiding away, then at night time when the shelter was empty, they felt more confident to explore.

They have been moved into a foster home to help them gain confidence and have been doing great! They went to the vet and did so well! The vet let us know, that even though they were clearly frightened, they were brave and great little patients.

A little update from their foster mom:
They are very playful with each other. Cheese is the braver one. Crackers has a loud purr when she's relaxed. They both also love to play with the toys with me.

They are both still very quiet  natured and non reactive (like the vet said) until they are ready to play! They get super curious when I sit there long enough and they love to fetch for treats.

No purring from Cheese yet!
-
Personality - both girls love to play. Any wands or little nice they go crazy for. They also love to play together. They love to sleep together too.

Cheese now loves being pet. Her ears have a cute little curl at the tip now that she's comfortable.

Crackers still isn't quite ready to be handled but she likes to cautiously hang out with me in the office and when she's comfortable she just sits there and purrs. She's more of a night owl still so she's most comfortable with me being around early in the morning or late at night.

They love treats - they will even chase them when they are feeling frisky! So far they are eating well and using the litter properly.

The girls are exploring the house more. Mostly the upstairs but they venture downstairs to the living room.
Crackers is active during the day and when I'm around she follows me and just wants love - she will flop on the floor belly up for pets (unless she's playing with cheese). Crackers is a bit more easily spooked than Cheese but she also a bit more curious.
Cheese loves to nap during the day! She has a hut looking out the window and Crackers goes in there with her. She also loves to play and watch me and follow me to see what I'm doing.
They don't meow at me but they chirp at eachother and sometimes at me. They are full of purrs.
They are still cautious and coming out of their shells so I'm trying to figure out their personalities still.

My Story:

Unfortunately, we can't be sure of the girls life before coming to WAG.

They were noticed by concerned citizens, who knew that they needed to get them inside before the winter came in full swing. They were able to bring them to WAG, where the girls have had a chance to go to the vet and are gaining more confidence daily in a foster home.

Shy cats and rehabilitated feral cats usually have a long stay at WAG, donating to their care helps WAG always ensure that we have a spot for these special kitties. If you can't adopt, please consider donating.
